In response to a 2026 Young Ones brief asking us to reframe the rumor that “Whiskas kills cats,” we repositioned internet misinformation as a modern fairytale: stories that spread because they’re dramatic, emotional and memorable — not because they’re true.
As children, we learned how to recognize stories for what they were. But online, those same instincts disappear. We forget to question what we read, even when it sounds too outrageous to be real.
Because if you already know how to spot a story, why believe every story you hear online?
In case you couldn't already tell, this was a passion project for my team and I. How often can you make an alternate reality game, build a cat themed Dungeons and Dragons board from scratch, hire a Gandalf voice actor for your case study, and live action roleplay on your college campus?
If you're actually reading this, I encourage you to get in touch with your inner whimsy. Stop taking things too seriously. That's when you start to have fun.
